Something’s not working with the Instagram app.
Note that as of May 2022, you may need to update your Instagram app as some older versions of the app are no longer supported.
If something's not working with the Instagram app for iOS or Android, we recommend updating your app to the latest version.
To make sure you have the most up-to-date version of the app:
Keep in mind that you can always go to Instagram.com on the web from a mobile browser or computer.
You can also switch to Instagram Lite, a version of Instagram for Android that uses less data.
If you're having trouble downloading the app, check your internet connectivity. For best results, connect to Wi-Fi before downloading.
If this doesn't solve your issue, let us know.

Troubleshoot Checkout on Instagram
Checkout on Instagram lets customers make purchases directly from your Instagram Shop without ever leaving the app. If you set up Instagram Shopping with an API Integration, Commerce Manager, or a third party platform, your business may be eligible to use checkout.
Check if your business is compatible:
  • Your Facebook account and Page or Instagram professional account must have demonstrated trustworthiness through an authentic and established presence.
  • You must have a commerce-ready catalog with items that can be purchased on your own live website. This must be a website that you own. Your products can not be sold via a 3rd party site.
  • When you sell directly with Checkout on Instagram, your sales are subject to our selling fee. It’s free to set up and host a shop on Instagram.
  • You need a US bank account for payouts and a representative’s name, SSN and DOB to verify the authenticity of your business. This also means you have to have a US business tax ID (EIN) that matches your legal name and a State Tax Registration Number for every state where you have a presence.
If you’re having issues with product tags:
  • Only products in USD can be purchased via checkout. You can tag products in your catalog that are not listed in USD, but these products will direct customers to purchase from your website.
  • After you enable checkout on Instagram, all shopping tags will direct people who are based in the U.S. to transact within Instagram. People based outside of the U.S. will continue to see a link to view the product on your external website.
If you’re having issues with shipping and returns:
  • You must follow the shipping policies of Commerce Manager or your platform partner. The policies that apply to you depend on where you set up your Instagram sales channel. For all sales, you must add tracking information and mark orders as shipped. All Sales that are not shipped within 30 days will automatically be cancelled.
  • Final sale and return windows up to 30 days are currently available at the categorical and single item levels, for all products with an assigned Google Product Category.
To ensure the privacy of our users, we do not share customer data aside from name, email and shipping address to fulfill orders. Customer email addresses cannot be used for marketing purposes unless the customer opts-in. At this time, your customers can only opt-in to share email addresses for marketing purposes if your shop is integrated via our API or some platform partners.
I think my Instagram account has been hacked.
If you think your account has been hacked or taken over, there are several actions you may be able to take via the website or the app to secure your account. Some of these recovery steps may not be available to you depending on the type of account you're trying to recover, but we recommend trying them all.
Check your email account for a message from Instagram
If you received an email from security@mail.instagram.com letting you know that your email address was changed, you may be able to undo this change by selecting secure my account in that message. If additional information was also changed (example: your password), and you're unable to change back your email address, request a login link or security code from Instagram
Request a login link from Instagram
To help us confirm that you own the account, you can request that we send a login link to your email address or phone number.
To request a login link:
  1. On the login screen, tap Get help logging in. (Android) or Forgot password? (iPhone or Web Browser).

  1. Enter the username, email address, or phone number associated with your account, then tap Next. Note: If you don’t have access to the username, email address, or phone number associated with your account, enter the login information you most recently used, then tap Can't reset your password? below the Next button and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Complete the captcha to confirm that you are a real human (web-only recovery).
  3. Select either your email address or phone number, then tap Next.
  4. Click the login link in your email or a text message (SMS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
Request a security code or support from Instagram
If you're unable to recover your account with the login link we sent to you, you may be able to request support from us.
To request support from Instagram:
Be sure to enter a secure email address that only you can access. Once you've submitted your request, you should receive an email from Instagram with next steps.

Verify your identity
If you submitted a support request for an account without photos of you, you should receive an auto-response email from the Support Team at Meta. We’ll ask you to help us verify your identity by providing the email address or phone number you signed up with and the type of device you used at the time of sign up (example: iPhone, Android, iPad, other).
If you request support for an account with photos of you, you'll be asked to take a video selfie of you turning your head in different directions to help us check that you’re a real person and confirm your identity.
Once you submit the video selfie to help us verify your identity, you’ll receive an email from Instagram at the secure email address you provided. We use this video to ensure you are a real person and that you are who you say you are.
Keep in mind that the video you submit will never be visible on Instagram and will be deleted within 30 days.
If we weren’t able to confirm your identity from the video you submitted, you can submit a new video and we’ll review it again.
Note: Instagram doesn’t use facial recognition, and we don't use it in video selfies. We use video selfies to ensure you are a real person and may confirm with human review that you are authorized to access your account.
If you're still able to log into your Instagram account
If you think your account has been hacked or an attempt to hack your account has been made and you're still able to log in, there are things you can do to help keep your account secure:
The email for my Instagram account was changed
If the email listed in your Instagram profile has changed, we'll send two emails asking you to accept or reverse the request. To make sure the request came from you, one email is sent to the original email to deny the change and one is sent to the new email address to allow the change.
If you made the request to change your Instagram profile email:
You'll need to accept the request from your new email account listed in your Instagram profile. This helps us confirm that you have access to the email you're requesting to associate with your Instagram account. We'll also send an email to the original email account listed in your Instagram profile allowing you to reverse the request if it was not requested by you.
If you did not make the request to change your Instagram profile email:
You'll need to deny the request from the original email associated with your Instagram account. The email will come from security@mail.instagram.com with a special link you can click to reverse the email change and help secure your account.
Keep in mind that we only initiate this process after an email is changed from the Instagram Profile page and that we won't change your Instagram email without your permission.

In addition to the guidance above, Instagram chooses reels to recommend that:
  • May be entertaining for a wide audience
  • Can inspire people to create (e.g. start a trend that others can participate in)
  • Have music from the Instagram music library or original audio that is made with the Reels audio tool
  • Are filmed vertically
  • Show events that are meaningful and relevant to our community
  • Show creators with diverse backgrounds and views
We aim to make less visible reels that:
  • Are muted, blurry, low resolution, contain borders, logos, watermarks or if the majority of the image is covered by text
  • Aren't your own original videos
  • Focus on political issues
  • Go against our Community Guidelines (e.g. contains hate speech or graphic violence) or our recommendation guidelines
Bear in mind that reels from people you follow will still be shown on profile and Feed and we won't make them less visible.
